I had a great time participating in another mock trial for students from Henderson and Vance County on Friday. My fellow attorneys and judicial officials enjoy using our courtroom experience (and a little bit of theatrics) to show the students what a trial is like in District Court and about the criminal justice system..
The students and teachers had some great questions for Judge Henry Banks as well as the other participants while our “Jury” was deliberating. When they returned it was a “not guilty” verdict. The Daily Dispatch captured the moment Monroe Efird (Attorney Scott Dennis) got the news.
This was the 10th year for the mock trial program in Vance County and I hope we can expand it to all of District 9 in the future.
